Life and Death In ....

The Power Of the Tongue Part One

Hello Friends and family, I know time after time I feel led to share on the "WORDS" we speak,of how crucial it is for us to grasp the importance of this sermon.I pray that all that read this will allow it to manifest deep into their spirit,in hopes they can turn their lives around as well as all the people that they come in contact with. When you read the scriptures here, let the reality minister to you each time you see the words, and he said or he spoke, every word spoken has creative power, what are your words creating in your world?

We shall have what we say. We need to get the word of God in our eyes and ears and hearts and meditate on them daily. Our words have power and Jesus said out of the abundance of a man’s heart his mouth speaks.

In Mark 11:23  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

As you can see in just one scripture I have underlined in hopes to emphasize that in order to have ,we must speak but we will have what we say.Maybe not overnight but words whether good or bad will sooner or later birth into the earth.

Let us recall …David said in 1 Samuel 17

31 And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him.

32 And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.

37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.

45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied. 46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

It was by David's words and the authority and power in them that he carried them out by faith! Not by his strength but the power of God ,manifested by His living word.

Then there’s Prov.16:32

32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

Prov. 18:21 death and life is in the power of the tongue ,and ye shall eat the fruit thereof.

In other words….ye shall have what ye say and as a man speaks so is he.

So we have to say and as we say make sure that it is positive.

There are laws that govern speech , it is the law of confession.

Faith has laws by which it works, and it works by Love.

Psalms 34:11-15

11Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.

12 What man is he that desireth life, and loveth many days, that he may see good?

13 Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.

14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.

In Hebrew it says; “Guard your tongue”

3 John 1: 2 Beloved I wish above all that thou mayest  prosper and be in health even as your soul prospereth.

We will be held accountable for every idle word .The word says to be quick to listen and slow to speak. Man is spirit and is given the wonderful gift of speech, only man can determine his destiny by speech. It began in the garden. The Hebrews say: by taking ahold of our power of speech we take ahold of life itself. God didn’t give us this power without telling us how it works. He gives us detailed instructions in the form of laws.

God created by His words. Let’s take a look over in Genesis.

Genesis 1:22 And God blessed them by SAYING….be fruitful and multiply.

He didn’t create the world by just thinking, HE SPOKE out: let there be light,And so on and so forth. God told Moses to SPEAK to the rock to get water, but Moses struck it instead, therefore not teaching and being an example of how God wanted the children of Israel to obtain and take the promise land. Therefore Moses wasn’t allowed to go into the promise land.Let’s look at Jesus, He demonstrated by speaking to the fig tree.

Then there’s Prov.16:

1The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.

2All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.

3 Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

9A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

10A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.

12 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

13 Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.

16 How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

21The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.

24 Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

26 He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.

27An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

28A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.

29 A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.

30 He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.

32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

So we have to say and as we say make sure that it is positive.

There are laws that govern speech , it is the law of confession.

Faith has laws by which it works, and it works by Love.

Prov.15:

1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.

4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

5 A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.

7 The lips of the wise disperse knowledge: but the heart of the foolish doeth not so.

14  The heart of him that hath understanding seeketh knowledge: but the mouth of fools feedeth on foolishness.

Prov.3:1-2 My son forget not my law, but let thine heart keep my commandments ,for length of days and long life and peace shall they add to thee.

Prov.3:

7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

8 It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

Prov.4:

1 Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

2 For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.

3 For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.

4 He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.

5 Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.

20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.

21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.

22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.

23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.

Joshua 1:8

This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Did you know that the speech center in the brain has total dominion over

All the nervous system.

There are more references in the bible about speaking, tongues and lips than any other thing. It you have a concordance you could look up all the words in reference to speaking and it would be a whole new study in itself, loaded!

Matt.12:37 Jesus said;

For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Prov.21:23

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.

This scripture above brought to my mind of those that want to quarrel and as it were said; Always wanting to get the last word in.

Your soul is: your mind, your will and your emotions.

When we speak out doubt, fear, and unbelief bad things will surround us. But when we speak what God says in His word by faith (Positive words)

Things will turn around. This thing on “words” is fundamental and it started in the beginning ,which was the gift of intelligent speech. It is what God Himself does. He demonstrated it in the creating of the earth, and He said; Let us make man in our image. That means :to be…and to Do….the same as God giving us dominion to create our world with the spoken word. And He said; Let there be light...

We can arrange our attitude and our atmosphere by our words. Therefore if you are just getting ahold of this, you can rearrange your words.

Judaism is the root of Christianity, without the jews we wouldn’t have the bible, the prophets, and the biggest blessing of all ,Jesus our Savior, Our Messiah.

Judaism can exist without Christianity but christianty cannot exist without Judaism .The jews knew to guard their tongue from evil for it would justify or condemn, this was established in the old testament.

So in the new testament Jesus reminded them of it, that their idle words would meet them again at judgement day. Idle word means, words that are not productive as with God’s plan.

Our lives are a reflection of our own words. If we walk in the spirit and not in the flesh then we will be more obedient as to doing what we are told to do in God's Word. Be quick to listen and slow to speak. By being slow to speak we can more easily speak a positive word that brings forth good fruit, amen!

Mark 4:14 The sower soweth the word.

And time after time we have heard and know that it is written, Ye shall reap what you sow.

I will have to do this in 2 parts, I pray that you let these words minister to your heart today and that with each passing day you will be more entuned to speaking words that uplift, edify and create a better world.

Lovingly In Christ; Pastor Linda Begley
