Layman's Bible Dictionary On meaning of "Prayer"

" Communion with God, elements of sincere prayer are adoration."

The very bible meaning of " prayer " is to pray to God.
( Father God,of the trinity)
And in scripture it is to now be ended in Jesus name for He is our mediator,
our intercessor,our counselor,our propitiation, and Oh so much more ...
but most of all OUR Redeemer! Hallelujah!
It has been laid on my heart to share a truth that I know there will be
persecution ,but I am reminded that if I know a truth and withhold it,
the blood of lost souls will be on my hands.And as Paul had said  in:
Galatians 4:16
Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

One of the most popular scriptures quoted nowadays and that the
holy Spirit brings to my heart often to share is 2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves,
and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin,
and will heal their land.

Confession -1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins,
and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Rom.10:8-10
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth,
and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness;
and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Supplication -1 Tim.2:1-6
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers,
intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority;
that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge
of the truth.
5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men,
the man Christ Jesus;
6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Intercession -James 5:15
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick,
and the Lord shall raise him up;
and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.

Thanksgiving -Phil.4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Jesus was a model of His followers in the practice of prayer.
He arose early in the morning to pray. Mark 1:35
And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out,
and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

He prayed all night before choosing His Twelve Disciples Luke 6:12
And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray,
and continued all night in prayer to God.

He prayed in Gethsemene the night of His betrayal Luke 22:44
And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly:
and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

And He prayed on the Cross for His enemies. Luke 23:34
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.
And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

He also gave His Disciples a model prayer to follow in their
communion with the Father .
Matt.23:8-9

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ;

and all ye are brethren.

And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father,

which is in heaven.

Matt.6:9-13
9 After this manner therefore pray ye: (
In this manner,
as it is written
He doesn't want it to be repetitive prayer
but going down each verse use as a guideline,praying to our Heavenly Father,
with reverence and honor,praying nothing that wouldn't be His will ,
our daily bread is His word,and in Isa.55:11 it speaks of
His word not returning void and we can insert His word in our prayer
 as to what the need is,
and having no unforgiveness,we are to speak it out (forgiving others)
if any offends us, whether we feel like it or not,
(if you wait to " feel it " ,then it may never happen)
Matt.5:23-24

23 Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar,

and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

24 Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way;

first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

Mark 11:24-26

24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire,

 when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any:

that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in

 heaven forgive your trespasses.

God will do the manifestation of it (forgiveness) happening ,
praying for His guidance and to help you ,for in ourselves
we can do nothing,but taking our thoughts captive unto the obedience
 of Christ Jesus and asking Him when we get up to guide our steps and
that this day can be used to glorify Him and be pleasing in His sight,
for sometimes we are the only bible people will read and may our lives,
words,and actions reflect that we are children of God.
Always thanking God for His mercy and grace.And when we have prayed,
believe to receive ,for we ask it being in His will and In Jesus name...Amen
 Praise His Holy name! Glory be to God ,Hallelujah!!

Matthew 6:5-13
5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are:
for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners
of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you,
They have their reward.
6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet,
and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret;
and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do:
for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.
8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things
 ye have need of, before ye ask him.
9 After this manner therefore pray ye:
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever. Amen.

(And when we pray we add ...in Jesus name, Amen)
Jere.33:2-3

“Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it,

to establish it; the LORD is his name; Call unto me, and I will answer thee,

and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

I've prayed about sharing something which will be the next post,
but I was led to share this first. It actually is very profound that
the very word "prayer" has such significance in why I must not withhold
a much needed message with God's scriptures backing it for it is His message.

I also feel the need to have you look up prayerbeads.
Many false religions use them.And in the mind of God they are mystic,
being used as some sort of mystical power in them.
Tis page as well as the next two will be a biblical teaching in re of
catholicism and the errors of it.
God bless you and I pray that you will share this timely information
with others that are in need of the truth through bible scripture.

Matt.23:8-9 In the Strongs Concordance Rabbi means "My Master"

But be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Master, even Christ;

 and all ye are brethren.

And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father,

which is in heaven.
